– Speaker biography –
James Shen, who holds an M. Eng. from the Institute of Computing Technologies, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He then took Ph.D. program in Computer Science at Dalhousie University, Halifax, Canada. James is the founder and president of EQ Consulting Inc., a global FinTech company. EQ provides business and technology solutions to Capital Markets, Asset/Portfolio Managers, and Asset Liability Management Divisions. EQ’s comprehensive solutions cover front/middle/back office, risk management, asset allocation, and portfolio construction/optimization. EQ is well known for introducing and implementing advanced big data and AI technologies to its prominent clientele in US, Canada, Europe and China.
James held a Portfolio Manager position at Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB). He was responsible for architecting and building an innovative, factor-based Investment process at total fund level. This process and its system manage ~CAD$100 billion asset, enhance return and reduce risk by controlling the weights of key market drivers.
